Challenge

Monolith Logistics is a SaaS provider serving 240+ logistics operators in India and Southeast Asia. Their backend was a single Ruby monolith on EC2, with a 4-hour release cycle, 99.4% uptime, and an infrastructure bill that was climbing 40% YoY. New features routinely shipped two months late.

Approach

We did not start with the Kubernetes migration. We started with the boring stuff — observability, CI/CD, and a service-by-service decomposition plan. Only then did we begin extracting domains into containerised microservices and migrating onto a managed Kubernetes platform.

Solution
  • 01A migration roadmap that decomposed the monolith into 12 services over 9 months
  • 02A Kubernetes platform on AWS EKS with auto-scaling and spot-instance node pools
  • 03CI/CD pipelines with blue-green deployments per service
  • 04Observability stack (Datadog) with SLOs and on-call rotation
  • 05A platform engineering layer (golden paths) so product engineers self-serve
  • 06Cost guardrails and weekly waste audits
Outcomes

Infrastructure spend fell by 44%. Release frequency went from biweekly to 10x daily. Uptime moved from 99.4% to 99.98%. The platform team now ships new services in days, not months.

Verity’s SRE and platform team is the operational backbone we always wanted but never knew how to build.
